Foggy Mountain Breakdown

Just like blues, country music and rock n’ roll,

bluegrass music uses a great deal of basic,

3 chord structures. This tune, made famous

by Flatt and Scruggs in the film,”Bonnie and Clyde”

is played with  G, Em and D chords.

Blake, Travis and Aaron are our leaders in this

exercise.   Thanks, guys!

Bluegrass music is often fast and furious.  This

is a type of music I’m still a novice at, but enjoy

playing along with in community settings.  It

incorporates instruments like banjo,mandolin,

dobro and fiddle in improvisation.  Learning to

play the chords and keeping up with the tempo

is the first step,  before we graduate into the fancy

flatpicking techniques.  “Foggy_Mountain_Breakdown”  is a good piece to start with.

Pull up your  porch chair and pluck along!
